Empowering the Next Generation: 4Rivers at Transportation & Construction GIRL Day 2025

The future of the heavy equipment industry is bright, and it's looking increasingly diverse. On Thursday, September 25, 2025, 4Rivers Equipment joined forces with industry leaders at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds for Transportation & Construction GIRL Day—an event dedicated to showing young women that a career in "big iron" is not just possible, but incredibly rewarding.

With our signature pink tutus and a custom "putter attachment" on a John Deere compact loader, the 4Rivers team stood out as we welcomed attendees to explore the world of construction and agriculture.

More Than Just "Wrenching"

One of the primary goals of the event was to showcase that "economic sustainability" in this industry comes in many forms. While we are always looking for the next generation of field technicians, our representatives talked to young women about a wide variety of career paths:

  • Sales & Coordination: Roles like Tess Tyndell’s (Sales Coordinator, Frederick), which require high-level organization and customer relationship skills.
  • Precision Technology: Managing John Deere SmartGrade™ and FourSight Solutions for 3D jobsite modeling.
  • Parts & Logistics: Keeping the "backbone" of the industry moving through inventory and supply chain management.
  • Marketing & Communications: Telling the stories of our 100-year legacy and our $100,000 goal for the American Cancer Society.

A Hands-On Glimpse into the Industry

The Jefferson County Fairgrounds were transformed into a massive interactive lab. Attendees didn't just look at machines; they engaged with the technology that defines 2026:

  • Simulation & VR: Paint simulators and VR design booths allowed girls to experience high-stakes tasks in a digital environment.
  • Aviation in Construction: Drone exhibits showcased how we now use aerial surveys to map jobsites and calculate material volumes.
  • The Trades: From an "electrical escape room" to masonry demos and soldering, every booth focused on the tactile skills that build our world.

Why Events Like This Matter

As 4Rivers Equipment celebrates our Centennial Year in 2026, we recognize that our continued success depends on attracting fresh talent with "outside-the-box" thinking—much like Justin Crowder’s BINGO innovation.

By supporting programs like Transportation & Construction GIRL, we are:

  1. Breaking Stereotypes: Showing that gender has no bearing on the ability to operate a 333 P-Tier loader or lead a service department.
  2. Addressing the Labor Shortage: Introducing high-paying, stable career paths to a demographic that has historically been underrepresented in the trades.
  3. Building Community: Connecting young women with mentors who can help them navigate the path from high school to specialized training programs, like those offered at the Community College of Aurora.
